About Us

Who is Modern Mia?

I’m a wanna-be vegetable gardener, suburban homesteader, homeschool teacher, and superhero in disguise. Happily married to my wonderful Sweet Hubby who is my better two-thirds and sometimes-willing garden muscle.

Who are the Wonder Kids?

My 4 children (2 boys, 2 girls) who have fun working in the garden, eating ice cream, playing with Tonkas, planting pink flowers, shoveling dirt, rearranging garden containers, scaling small mounds of dirt in single bounds, and plucking cute little veggies off the vine too early so they’ll still fit in their purses and backpacks.

What do we grow?

We grow whatever will survive our efforts and toy shovels. Sometimes the shovels win, sometimes we win. And sometimes the squirrels just run away with the tomatoes.

If you have any questions, look for my sunflower on Twitter (@modernmiagarden) or Facebook (Modern Mia Gardening). If all else fails, email me at modmia {at} gmail {dot} com. Please note: I do not accept unsolicited submissions for writing on this blog.

I will receive a very small percentage that will accumulate over time to help pay for keeping this blog going. And once every other blue moon have enough to buy a few more seeds and peat pellets.

Update to Disclosure Statement 7/2016: In an effort to make this blog pay for itself, I’ve chosen to become an Independent Consultant for Perfectly Posh, a company that produces products that I actively use. 1. It’s a wonderful life isn’t it? I only have one chick left in the nest, but I’m enjoying every minute of her. Thank you Mia for reminding me what my life was once like. Tonka trucks indeed. I have four kids too, three girls and one boy.
