Here Comes the Rain Again

This is my 9th contribution to the Grow Write Guild.

The current writing prompt for the Grow Write Guild is to change lyrics of a favorite song to reflect your relationship with a plant or food crop. Since we’ve had nothing but rain, I’m not having much of a relationship with anything in my garden. I’m having a relationship with the rain. Without further ado (and with many, many gazillion apologies to the fabulous Annie Lennox and David Stewart for butchering their classic song), here’s your earworm for the week.

Here Comes The Rain Again (lyrics by Modern Mia)

Here comes the rain again

Falling on my garden like a open fire hose

Falling on my head every other day.

I want to walk in the glowing sun

I want to harvest like others do

I want to dive into my tomatoes

I’m tired of the rain.

Refrain

So garden talk to me

Like gardens do

Grow for me

Like gardens do

Bloom for me

Like gardens do

Here comes the rain again

Raining on my head, never ending

Molding my soil like a parasite

Ooooooooooh

I want to walk in the evening sun

I want to eat homegrown cucumbers

I want to dive into cold pesto

Will the rain never end

Refrain

So garden talk to me

Like gardens do

Here comes the rain again

Drowning my beans like a tidal wave

Washing my okra down the muddy street

I want to walk in the morning sun

I want to enjoy my veggie bounty

I want to eat a melon before it rots

The rain will never ever end

(repeat last verse to fade)

    • Thanks, Valerie! I was listening to the rain and that song popped in my head like it always does when it rains. Guess that’s the joy of surviving the 80′s. Thanks for stopping by!
